“Salary Compass” Report

“Statistics” Section

Salary Compass is public salary analytics for Ukraine: medians, minimums, and maximums by role, experience level, industry, and city. This document briefly explains where the figures come from and how we handle people’s data, shared by those who contributed it.

Where the data comes from

One source is anonymous contributions from service users. Each person enters information about their salary, role, experience level, industry, and city themselves. We don’t ask for their first name, last name, or company name.

Our potential audience is more than 100,000 recruiting and HR professionals. Salary Compass uses this audience as its primary source of contributions.

Only information that a person knowingly enters into the form on the website is included in Salary Compass.

We do not use any data about salary ranges from job vacancies, do not use self-reports on social media, and do not take statistical data from HURMA clients' HRM systems. Salary Compass and the HURMA product are separate databases that are not connected.

How we work with data quality

Being honest is more important than making an impression. Our service is at an early stage – some of the mechanisms are still being built. What we are doing now:

  • Only the median, not the average. Salaries have an asymmetric distribution; the average is inflated by outliers. The median reflects reality more accurately and is more resistant to individual unrealistic figures.

  • Manual review of obvious anomalies. If an obviously unrealistic contribution appears in the data, the team removes it in the next dashboard update.

  • Registration via email. This is a basic barrier against bots and mass automated contributions.

What we're adding in the coming months:

  • Automatic outlier filter – unrealistic figures will be flagged algorithmically, without human involvement

  • Minimum sample threshold per slice – so as not to publish medians based on a very small number of data points

  • Automatic exclusion of outdated data – after 12 months, a contribution is no longer included in the current median

User Privacy

What we already guarantee for participants who completed the survey form:

  • Anonymous contributions. We don’t ask for your first name, last name, or company name. The dashboard shows only aggregated data — individual figures for individual people are never shown to anyone.

  • No company names. They aren’t requested in the contribution form, so a breakdown of “salaries at company N” simply doesn’t exist in Salary Compass.

  • Right to deletion. Write to us at any time at [email protected] — we’ll remove your data from the next dashboard update. No explanation needed.

  • Email — for operational purposes only. Registration, data deletion confirmation, and optional service updates. Your email is never published or shared with third parties.

Access to the service

Full access to the dashboard is available after registering with your email. It’s free, with no restrictions based on industry or role. We don’t send marketing emails without your consent.

If you already use HURMA, full access to Salary Compass data is enabled automatically. You don’t need to submit your data for this.

Legal guarantees

  • Data processing complies with the Law of Ukraine “On Personal Data Protection”

  • We do not sell Salary Compass data—to agencies, consultancies, or anyone else

  • We do not share raw data—access is limited to aggregated data through the dashboard

  • Right to deletion—at any time, without giving a reason
